Washing Made Easy

To three pails of cold water add four tablespoons of kerosene oil, one-half or three-fourths of a

bar of Welcome Soap sliced very thin. Put the clothes into the cold water and boil half an hour.

Think I'll stick with my method of doing laundry. I did do a little shopping today, to make the completion of my project a little easier.

The Classic.  Just like the one I learned to iron with! My heart did a little flip when I spied it.  Well, hmm,  I have not had an iron for over 2 years.  The one that made the move died.  What have I done for 2 years without an iron?  I was lazy!  My new washer and dryer both have the steam feature.  If something was in need of pressing, toss it in, give it a quick steam, and go.  Love it!  Couldn't use it for this project so, I now have the retro iron!

This is my project:

Cast iron cook stove base, that the previous owners had tried to make a coffee table with.  I took the plywood top off and turned it over, only to have it come completely apart!  hmmmm.....

Problem solved!  About two hours later and many failed attempts.

Used some birch plywood we had on hand from one of the construction projects.  Attached the back and

arms to the base.

 

The girls at the store make cutting this stuff look so easy. 

Made a burlap cushion and Miss Sarah surprised me with the adorable t pillow. She got her inspiration from Greige here.

Once I find the power sander,  I will be roughing the edges up and adding some character. Miss Sarah is

working on a couple more pillows.  I'll be adding the finishing touches over the next few days. 

I wonder if I will be able to keep Mr. Oakley from claiming it as his own!  Yes, I know, should of been working on the door trim.
